LL Installations creates high-quality accents in a foyer with Corian
The possible applications of Columbus vacuum technology are as diverse as its users and their projects. Logical, because that's exactly what this technology was created for. A vacuum press gives its user the opportunity to create new and creative things again and again without setting any limits. It doesn't matter whether it's a large workpiece or small details that fit into the overall picture. You are also flexible when it comes to the choice of materials. A vacuum press offers maximum performance, both with wood and plastic.
In order to illustrate how flexible Columbus customers are with a vacuum press, we are presenting another project by Columbus customer LL Installations from Australia in this blog article.
We have previously reported on how LL Installations used laminated bending to manufacture large wooden parts with the utmost precision. You can read the story here. Today the focus is on how LL Installations used its vacuum press to produce special details made of Corian for a foyer, which fit perfectly into the overall concept.
In 2021, the building at 574 St. Kilda Road in Melbourne was renovated, creating an iconic object for innovative work environments. It developed into a leading A-class building on the historic boulevard. An essential part of these developments was the brand new lobby including a coffee shop, which our customer LL Installations played a key role in designing.
The newly refurbished building at 574 St Kilda Road has a lobby with quality seating and its own coffee shop. An overall concept was created here that combines elegance, modernity and high-quality business flair. A recurring design element literally catches the eye. The seating as well as the counter and the tables of the coffee shop were equipped with rounded Corian elements in glacier white with a wave-shaped look - an eye-catcher that captivates.
The wavy, rounded shapes in different sizes called for a tool that perfectly adapts to the circumstances of the workpiece. This was not a problem thanks to the flexible membrane of the vacuum press. Another critical factor was the connection with the rest of the elements in the concept. This connection should be seamless. In order to be able to create this connection without leaving a joint visible, the highest precision was required for the curves, which could be guaranteed by the vacuum press.
The results are impressive and one thing becomes clear. Versatility and simplicity as well as creativity and precision are not opposites. Thanks to vacuum technology, these attributes merge into a brilliant result.
Thank you LL Installations for sharing this success story with us. We wish you many more exciting projects.

Feasible – only with a vacuum
